Lease Terminations

There are several reasons why your Public Housing lease may be terminated.

Termination by Tenant

The family may terminate the lease at any time, for any reason, by submitting a written thirty day notice signed by the Head of Household in person or by mail.

Mandatory Terminations by OHA:

HUD requires OHA to terminate the lease under the following circumstances:

  • Failure to provide required reexamination documentation
  • Failure to accept OHA’s offer of a revised lease
  • Manufacturing or production of methamphetamine on the premises of federally assisted housing
  • Member of the household is lifetime registered sex offender
  • Failure to comply with the community service requirement
  • Death of a single person household

Other Good Causes for Terminations include but is not limited to:

  • Drugs, violent and criminal activity
  • Non-compliance with lease terms
  • Unauthorized occupants
  • Threat to other residents
