OHA is committed to providing decent, safe and sanitary housing, in good repair, to low-income families at an affordable rent.

OHA makes every effort to provide housing to a diverse community in compliance with local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations. For further details regarding the Public Housing policies and procedures, please review the Admissions and Continued Occupancy Policy that details the rules and regulations that govern our operations.

Property Types

OHA provides 762 units in two family public housing properties: Lockwood Gardens in East Oakland and Peralta Village in West Oakland. OHA’s traditional family properties were built during or after World War II as affordable and work force housing options for returning war veterans and their families.

OHA has 537 Senior units in five properties throughout the City of Oakland. Each property is managed by a 3rd party property management company and overseen by OHA’s Asset Management Department

Mixed-income housing developments consist of housing with various levels of affordability, including market-rate and affordable housing within the same property.  Mixed income properties contribute to the long-term OHA goal of decentralizing public housing and providing more opportunities for public housing residents to transition to self-sufficiency.
