Oakland Housing Authority provides food to support families during the holiday season

The Oakland Housing Authority (OHA) will participate in the District 6 Thanksgiving Food Giveaway on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Arroyo Viejo Recreation Center. OHA Foundation (OHAF) purchased 100 food bags for families in District 6, with each bag containing a turkey or chicken and all the items needed for a complete Thanksgiving meal.
This annual event supports OHAF’s mission to support families and promote housing stability and community connection. By participating, OHA and OHAF help ensure that residents and families have access to nutritious meals during the holiday season.

- Location: Arroyo Viejo Recreation Center, 7701 Krause Ave., Oakland, CA 94605
- Distribution: First-come, first-served
Eligibility and Guidelines:
- Participants must live in District 6
- One food bag per household
- Residents must pick up their food bag at Arroyo Viejo Recreation Center on the day of the event
Volunteer Opportunities:
OHA staff are invited to volunteer to help prepare and distribute food bags to families. This is a meaningful opportunity to support the community and connect with colleagues while serving Oakland residents.
