State Sen. Jesse Arreguín Visits Oakland Housing Authority Property to Learn About Preservation Efforts

March 24, 2026

The Oakland Housing Authority (OHA) welcomed State Sen. Jesse Arreguín, who represents California’s 7th Senate District, for a tour that included a walk-through of an OHA property in Oakland to learn more about ongoing efforts to preserve and improve affordable housing in the city.

During the visit, Sen. Arreguín met with OHA leadership and toured several affordable housing communities owned, managed, and subsidized by the agency. The tour took a closer look and highlighted examples of the variety of funding tools and strategies OHA uses to support the development and preservation of affordable housing, as well as recent rehabilitation work led by OHA’s Capital Improvements Department (CID) and ongoing property management by OHA’s Property Management team.

The visit also created space for conversation about the importance of preserving Oakland’s affordable housing and expanding opportunities for residents to access safe, stable housing. As the newly appointed Chair of the Senate Housing Committee, Sen. Arreguín’s visit underscores the importance of collaboration between state and local leaders working to address California’s housing challenges.

OHA appreciates the opportunity to share its work and looks forward to continued partnership in support of housing stability for Oakland families.
