Resident Voices, Stronger Communities: OHA Celebrates RAB Members

On August 12, 2026, the Oakland Housing Authority (OHA) celebrated the residents who have lent their voices and leadership to help shape the future of OHA’s communities through the agency’s Resident Advisory Board (RAB). The board welcomed 10 members, four who have actively participated as members for the past 7 years, while also welcoming six new members who will begin their first official year of service this fiscal year 2027.

The Oakland Housing Authority (OHA) celebrated the induction of its FY 2027 Resident Advisory Board (RAB) on August 12, 2026.

During their regularly scheduled meeting in the OHA Board of Commissioners room, RAB members received certificates in recognition of their commitment to work and important role in ensuring that resident perspectives are part of OHA’s planning and decision-making.  

“We are here tonight to celebrate the leadership, dedication, and commitment of our RAB members,” said OHA Executive Director Patricia Wells. “We want to thank you for helping us to create communities where everyone can thrive.”

The RAB provides an important connection between OHA and the residents it serves.  

Through their participation in reviewing OHA’s annual planning process, members share their experiences, raise issues that matter to families, and provide input on policies, programs, federal requirements, and agency priorities.  

Along the way, members also have opportunities to strengthen their leadership and civic engagement skills.  

An important forum for resident participation, RAB was first created during the 1999-2000 fiscal year and is comprised of public housing residents and Housing Choice Voucher participants who have been chosen to represent OHA residents. 

“OHA is grateful to the residents who step forward to serve, share perspectives, and help make their communities stronger,” said Wells. “We encourage all our residents to get involved.”
